Announcing audiobooks

Books can be read in print or as an ebook or even large print, but there are also those who love to listen to their books.

Early recordings

In 2018, I embarked on the steep learning curve that is learning how to narrate an ebook and also do all the technical side of recording and editing. I am grateful for a friend who loaned me the equipment and helped me with the technical side while making sure I could do it myself.

Then I returned to Taiwan for two years. I was unable to do any recording in Taiwan because it is too noisy unless you have access to a proper recording studio.

So, since early 2019, my first two novels, Grace in Strange Disguise and Grace in the Shadows were available on audio.

The blessings of lockdown

I had the remaining novels on my to-do list but it looked unlikely they’d move up that list for a good long while. But God! He allowed us to be in a lengthy Covid lockdown (thirteen weeks and counting). Lockdown is great for projects like writing (I wrote book 6) and painting (2 rooms) and recording. I borrowed the equipment (microphone/pop filter/stand) and was able to set up my parents’ campervan as a studio (by adding lots of soft things around to dampen any sound).

I spent ten days recording and editing three novels and two non-fiction books. Another friend listened to the three novels to pick up any remaining errors.

Where can I buy the audiobooks?

The five novels and two non-fiction books are available on many sites and at many different price points. Here is a link to some of the main ones.

Audiobooks are expensive – is there a cheaper way to listen?

If you can’t afford to buy audiobooks there are several alternatives. You can belong to a subscriber service like Scribd or even better, request them for your local library. Your library might use Hoopla, Borrowbox, or Overdrive. My audiobooks are available on several of these.

  1. Is there any place where we can get the five published Grace books as a set in audio format? We don’t use PayPal.
    Thanks!
